Connecting brain banks around the world to advance research in rare diseases
Brain tissue is an invaluable resource when it comes to rare neurological diseases in children
Nevertheless, existing brain banking practices suffer from fragmentation, an absence of global standards, and an overwhelming focus on adult disease.
With the development of new omics and drug discovery platforms, there’s never been a more critical time to unite clinicians, researchers, advocacy groups and other stakeholders involved in rare neurological disease.
Our vision
We propose to create a global network of brain banks aimed at advancing research and treatment for rare neurological disorders in children.
The network will unite existing tissue banks, clinical centres, patient advocacy groups, researchers, clinicians and other relevant stakeholders.
